Social dining · MVP to launch

Taking Venu from an early social dining idea to a working product

Venu set out to make discovering local venues and planning with friends easier. Botmer ran the product journey end to end, from UI and UX through development, a working prototype, and preparation for launch in Australia.

01 / Original direction

A social product built around what people do together

Venu began with an idea for connecting people through dining, shared interests, and local experiences. Instead of treating venue discovery as a solitary search, the concept brought friends, recommendations, plans, and hospitality businesses into one mobile experience.

The current public product describes discovery for local venues and events, personalised recommendations, social planning, venue stories, bookings, and tools for businesses to reach nearby communities.

02 / Product journey

Moving from concept to something people could use

Botmer led the project across the full path from early direction to working product. That meant shaping the experience before engineering it, then supporting the team as it moved toward an Australian launch.

  1. 01Concept definition
Turned the social dining direction into a clearer set of product journeys.
  2. 02UI and UX
Designed how discovery, social planning, venue content, and connected actions could fit together.
  3. 03Product development
Built the experience into a functioning mobile product.
  4. 04Prototype and preparation
Delivered a working prototype and supported the move toward launch.

03 / Experience design

Making discovery feel social from the start

The design work had to connect two ideas without losing clarity: discovering what is happening nearby and understanding how friends or people with shared interests relate to those options.

The resulting product views bring together event and venue discovery, stories, filters, friend activity, invitations, and account flows. These interfaces show the interaction model created for the working product without claiming that every item on Venu's current public roadmap was included in the original prototype.

04 / Product development

Engineering the working prototype

Once the experience was defined, Botmer developed the product into a working prototype. Keeping design and engineering inside one engagement reduced the gap between what was proposed, what could be tested, and what needed adjustment before launch preparation.

No unverified framework, infrastructure, adoption, or performance claims are added to the engagement record.

06 / Launch preparation

Supporting the move toward an Australian launch

The engagement continued through the stage where the team was preparing Venu for launch in Australia. Botmer's verified role covers preparation and product support; it does not claim a public launch date or adoption result that the available evidence does not establish.

07 / Public status

What Venu presents today

Venu's official site currently presents the product as pre-launch and invites hospitality businesses into an early-access beta. It describes a consumer experience for discovering local events and venues, making plans with friends, and organising interests, alongside business tools for marketing, analytics, and local engagement.

This current positioning is product context. It is kept separate from the specific design, prototype, development, and launch-preparation work supplied in Botmer's engagement brief.

08 / Supported outcomes

What moved forward through the engagement

Venu progressed from an early idea to a designed and functioning product, with a working prototype available as the founders prepared for launch.

  1. 01Concept translated into product journeys
The original social dining idea gained a coherent interaction model.
  2. 02Working prototype delivered
